The Egypt U-17 (under 17) team came from a goal down to beat Senegal 2-1 in the the CAF (Confederation of African Football) Cup of African Nations (CAN) U-17 Championship in Rwanda on Saturday.

A late strike from substitute Mohamed Adel in the 83rd minute gave the young Pharaohs their first three points of the tournament after Mohamed Abdel-Monem, in the 66th minute, canceled Ndiaye Ibrahima's early lead in the 20th minute.

The Senegalese seemed the most dangerous side during the first 45 minutes, able to get in the lead midway through the first half. They could have doubled the lead but the Egyptian keeper made a series of fine saves to keep his team's hopes alive.

The Egyptians improved after the break allowing Abdel-Monem and Adel to change the match.

Mohamed Omar's men will take on hosts Rwanda next Tuesday and end the group stage games against Burkina Faso on 14 January.
