ST KILDA captain Nick Riewoldt has been embroiled in a confrontation over the nude footy photo scandal.
It is believed Riewoldt's shirt was ripped when he retaliated to jibes from two men who pestered him outside a fish and chip shop in South Melbourne.

At least one of the men is believed to have waved an iPhone displaying the infamous nude photo of the AFL star.
As Riewoldt left the Clarendon St shop about 11pm on Wednesday, it is believed he brushed past one of the men and they became involved in a scuffle.

After Riewoldt's shirt was torn he got into his luxury car, in which his girlfriend was sitting, and drove off.

One of the two men then walked into a pizza shop where two police officers were ordering their dinner.

A staffer at the pizza shop said the officers told the man to report the scuffle to South Melbourne police, as it was not their jurisdiction.

"The guy came in here," he said.

"I didn't see Nick Riewoldt, but one guy came in here complaining, saying someone grabbed someone by the neck. The cops said they couldn't be bothered because they were from the city."

Minutes later a divvy van from South Melbourne arrived at the scene.

Police yesterday said they were aware of the Clarendon St incident, but no one was willing to make a statement about the fracas.

St Kilda confirmed Riewoldt was verbally harassed by people unknown to him while collecting takeaway food in South Melbourne, but did not want to comment further.

Riewoldt has been under intense pressure since photos of him and teammates Zac Dawson and Nick Dal Santo were released on the internet in December.

The Riewoldt photo was taken by teammate Sam Gilbert at a Miami hotel in 2009.

The girl who released the photos said she thought the South Melbourne incident was amusing.

"I'm laughing at it," she said.

"I was out the other night and three guys came at me and were saying, 'You're the St Kilda girl'. They were harassing me."

A meeting is set to be held today between the St Kilda Football Club, the girl - who cannot be named for legal reasons- and their respective lawyers.

Riewoldt and his teammates will fly to New Zealand this weekend to continue their pre-season training.
