Caitlin Munoz bagged a pair of goals, the first coming in just the third minute, as the hosts made their intentions clear from the opening whistle.
Michelle Heyman doubled Canberra's advantage after 19 minutes before the Jets' Tara Andrews narrowed the margin to one in the shadows of half-time.
Munoz (78') and Emily Van Egmond (88') sealed the deal in the second half to hand Canberra the full three points, pushing the side to 14 points, five behind Brisbane and four short of Sydney.
